What i not understand is all the bad comments about the Outback Bowie.. I shopped and battoned mine through hell..the knive is still doing great.. The Outback is a rattail..no its a hidden tang with a threaded pommel..the tang is 17/7 so a thick and wide tang..the little threaded part is 6 mm thick.. 440C is shit steel? No..its a great steel..many great knife makers use 440C. Good heattreated 440C is a great steel. It even have more carbon then 1095.. I think there are here some problems.. 1..they are many fake Outback Bowie on the market. 2..it looks like you tube has brainwatch almost everybody that a good knife must can batton even concrete.. 3..People dont understand steel.. 4...the only good knife is a full tang. No..thats not true..see the Glock knives for example..a little partial tang but indestructible..see the Mora Robust..little partial tang but indestructible.. See the Ontario SP10 Raider Bowie..a stick tang but indestructible. People do some research first before put comments and dont let yourself brainwatching by all of those you tube video's.. And learn how to use a knife..its not an axe. I battoning and shopping with my Outback just to see how strong it is..and believe me..its fucking strong and by no means a wallhanger.. O yeah..sorry for my bad english.. And ok..the Outback is not perfect but its made for hard use. And about Esee..i never had one but i think they are great knives too.. Have a nice day everybody!

You're out of your mind if you think you can't baton with a Junglas! The Junglas is a batoning king! Where the Junglas gets in potential trouble is HEAVY CHOPPING (not batoning) against dead, seasoned hardwoods. There is a video here on YT of a guy warping the Junglas edge from whacking away like crazy on a massive, dead oak tree. If you need to do that kind of chopping work, use an axe and/or a saw. Common sense. I don't use any knife, no matter how large, to do that sort of chopping. These size knives are only meant for wrist, maybe arm size type trees. And that goes for any bowie or khukuri too. Anything larger and you're increasing the chances of doing some serious damage to the blade no matter how beefy and strong it may be.

Esse is the better knife by far as it pertains to function , price and durability. The outback is wins as it pertains to looks...major cool factor.

I like Filipino bolos , wish they made them full tang , that said , cold steel and Schrade make nice copies , but not sure they are hardened like Filipino’s do , plus a finger guard would be nice

U can custom it to your fit just add a strap like crocodile Dundee upside down on your back that is how I carry mine

Dumb complaints just get a regular machete and take care of your nice jungles with oil

If you clean the rust off it put a bit of gun blue on it or mustard it should help a bit.

Nothing wrong with this knife. Maintain with oil as you should regardless. It's a big knife so yes its going to have big knife issues of comfort removing from a sheath on your body but is to be expected from a big knife. And that's an amazing sheath that comes with the knife. If your not a fan get a custom one made. Pound for pound dollers to dollers. Great knife hands down!

The esse is 10 times the knife the outback is.. Don't get me wrong, the outback is beautiful.. but Inna year that stacked leather handle will be trash. The hidden tang design will never ever ever be able to handle the abuse of the full Tang esse.. the hollow grind of the outback will never achieve the geometrical sharpness if the esse full flat grind. And the the more you sharpen , the worse it's gonna get. But it's gonna get worse faster on the outback because of how steep the bevel is And as far as you pretending the esse can't handle a baton. Sit down dude. You can baton that esse thru knotty wood with a steel hammer

If they doubled the thickness of the Junglas it would be a beast. But yeah I think it's too thin.

The "Shackel" on the sheath is Great if your Left Handed ...🤣😂 I just bought the Junglas and they did change the "Shackel" for Right Handed users ... And your right , the knife is pretty balanced and more of a "survival " knife , made to do more things and Not just a Big Chopper ...

Why did he make a double notch and put a metal chain link between the notches? Since it was not engaging the bow string. Thanks for posting this, I learned a lot. The bow got stronger as it dried and seasoned but could still pierce a coconut husk when green and fresh, wow.

You should cut the used tip of the spindle. Never work with an old used spindle tip because it is allready caramelised. This will spin but not burn in. Good luck. Key to succes: MATERIAL.....
